We are currently seeking seeking Project Assistants, experienced Project Officers, one Publications Officer and one Graphics Specialist with immediate start.

We also welcome spontaneous applications for all fieldwork positions and for our CIfA approved training scheme.

Project Officers

Applicants must have at least 6 months commercial experience at that level. Candidates with less experience will be considerate for Trainee Project Officer positions. The post is permanent with 6 month probationary period.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake fieldwork projects and subsequent report writing. An ability to carry out digital illustration would be advantageous. The post is permanent with 6 month probationary period. More info on the position can be found here.

Project Assistants

Applicants must have at least 6 months commercial experience. Candidates with less experience will be considerate for Trainee positions.

The successful candidates will be required to undertake excavation and recording of designated archaeological features/areas. Opportunities to undertake post-excavation tasks are also offered. More info on the position can be found here.

Publications Officer

Applicants must have demonstrable experienced in fieldwork reports writing and publication. The post is permanent with 6 month probationary period. The post is based at the Wheatley head office, with the possibility to mainly work from home.

The successful candidate will be required to produce reports suitable for planning purposes as well as for publication in regional and national journals, and in the JMHS monograph series. More info on the position can be found here.

Graphics Specialist

The successful candidate will be required to prepare illustrations for reports using site plans, photographs, GIS data, and historical maps with limited supervision. The post is permanent with 6 month probationary period. More info on the position can be found here.


All applicants must be CSCS carded. For those without such at the moment, advice will be given. A valid Driving Licence with own transport is preferred for all positions. Preferably applicants will be members of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.
