Archaeology is the study of the human past through physical remains. This includes artefacts, earthworks and standing buildings, as such provides an insight into the lives of our ancestors. Our heritage is a fragile and important resource and we try hard to promote its protection and enjoyment for everyone. We organise a number of outreach activities in an effort to achieve this, including public talks and lectures, excavation open days, work experience placements, visits to schools and encouraging children’s active participation on real archaeological sites. Additionally, we have been involved in producing interpretation boards for sites, and actively produce press releases and news columns for local and parish publications about our work in the community. JMHS staff have contributed to and appeared on Channel 4's Time Team and Grand Designs programmes. You can also find JMHS on Facebook. |
